JPV Figures, adorning the COVERS
of astronomical/astrophysical journals

* 1985: the paper cover of "Astrophysical Letters", vol 24,
used Fig. 1 from an article by
        Broten,MacLeod,Vallée, 1985, Ap.Lett, 24, 165-171

* 2002 April: the web cover page of "Astrophysical Journal", at http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/ApJ/ used 7 rotating images, one of which is from Fig. 2 of an article by Vallée, 2002, Ap.J, 566, 261-266 * It appears that all the figures in the scientific articles published in the prestigious 'Astrophysical Journal" from 2000 March to 2002 March were entered for 'scientific relevance and aesthetics'. There are roughly 40 articles per issue, 3 issues per month, 24 months in the selected period, and each article has around 5 figures, so there were close to 15 000 figures in the conpetition. The ApJ jury, composed of lay-persons (not scientists), took 7 winning figures, and displayed them on the main journal's web page. * It adorned their web cover page from 2002 April until 2007 December (over 5 years). * 2005 August: the paper cover & electronic cover of "Astronomical Journal", at http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/AJ/journal/contents/v130n2.html used Fig. 2b from an article by Vallée, 2005 August, AJ, 130, 569-575
